No one is born with super powers, unless you’re Superman reading this in your cabin at the Daily Planet. No one is blessed with strong mental strength in their infancy. Each of us develop the appropriate set of skills over time by working toward their personality development. It’s both an art and a skill, the way mentally strong individuals work on themselves to become stronger and better.

Simply put, a mentally strong person is one who’s willing to take on the world on their own. A strong willed human being who fears nothing and no one, and doesn’t back out or hesitate from obstacles. I set out to ask the experts on their opinions and here’s what they had to share when asked the secrets to their success.

Focus on What Motivates You

To be mentally tough means to be absolutely focused. We are most susceptible to a lack of resolve when we aren’t clearly focused — or are focusing on the wrong things. It’s relatively easy to be mentally tough when things are going right, but when they aren’t, the mentally tough focus on what matters most to them.

Defining what you want and revisiting your vision frequently will help you keep the inner fire lit. This will get you past even the toughest times. In other words, focus on what you want — not what you don’t want.

Turn a Negative into a Positive

It is human nature to get discouraged easily. Often, the negativities in our lives stand between us and our goals like a brick wall. But what makes the mentally tough people so great is their strong will. Nothing can drag or pull them down. They are the crazy ones, the game changers.

They take note of all the pessimistic thoughts dragging them down and break through the shackles holding them back. Their habit to respond to criticism and harsh condemnations with a positive dialogue is what makes them strong-willed and mentally tough. Their direct connection with their inner soul doesn’t let them go off course or leave them demotivated.

Make Use of Your Brains Right!

With so much going on in our lives and the world around, it’s easy to get distracted with a number of unproductive and unimportant tasks and errands. Mentally strong people strategize. From day one till the end, they plan every passing minute on how to make the best of every situation. It’s their devotion and uphill struggle that ultimately results in them being able to accomplish their goals.

Set Attainable Goals

Always set clear and attainable goals. That’s exactly what a mentally strong person would do. Setting yourself goals that aren’t clear or realistically unachievable not only demoralizes a person, but also silently kills the will to work any further ultimately resulting in much less productivity. They take up every obstacle as a challenge and these little targets help them achieve their ultimate long-term goal.

Welcome Discomfort with Open Arms

Another unique characteristic that make mentally strong people different and stand out is that they don’t run in the face of fear or are easily scared by the discomforts and hurdles along the way. They go to great lengths when it comes to pain endurance, distress and anguish just to prove that they are strong-minded and will not accept defeat. They often tolerate discomfort because they have a greater purpose in life and will not let anything stand in the way. Be it any sport or stage, whenever they feel they are stressed out or tired to the bones, they make use of it in a positive way and give an excellent comeback.

Acknowledge Your Progress

Never objectify or underestimate your past successes. This is not how mentally tough people go about life. The art lies in the remembrance. Never cease to reflect on your achievements.  This will not only help trigger more energy and steer you in all the right directions, but also provide you with a feel-good sense.

Take out time to acknowledge how far you have come from the beginning and ponder upon the areas that need improvements. Make sure you hold yourself accountable to all the past mistakes rather than playing the blame-game. Continuously strive to shine with your full potential.

Gratitude is The Key to Excellence

As stated above, the key is to appreciate the little things in life. Acknowledge the fact that you are no less than others, and more importantly, that you deserve the best. The minute you start feeling the gratitude that you have been blessed with everything you ever wished for, you will enter your safe haven where everything is perfect to the dot. Mentally strong people always express gratitude and are grateful for what they have instead of focusing on what they don’t.

My Life, My Rules!

They live by the philosophy of ‘my life, my rules’. Instead of comparing their self-worth with others, they focus on living their lives on their own priorities. They don’t fall victim to what others have to say about them or sidetrack themselves to become something they are not. At the end of the day, instead of asking “Was I good enough as others?” they rely on “Was I true to my rules?”

They focus on living according to their values and doing their best, despite their circumstances. At the end of the day, they don’t ask themselves, “Did I beat everyone else?” Instead, they ask, “Did I stay true to my values?”

Logic + Emotions = Perfect Combination

Our emotions play a great role in shaping our moods. If we feel sad, we automatically feel less motivated and isolated. These behavioral changes affect not only our performance, but also our perspectives of seeing things. To counter negative feelings playing their “A” card, what mentally strong people do is that they observe and pay sharp attention to the ways their emotions may become a hurdle and influence their rules and judgments. By keeping note of that, they artistically balance their emotions with rationale in order to formulate the best decisions.

The last and predominantly the most important secret of achieving a mentally strong personality, is to never waste time feeling sorry for yourself. Believe me, this is the easiest route to self-destruction. It not only demoralizes one, but at the same time, gives voice to all the negativities in our head.

Stay positive and mentally strong!

Get All the Success You’ve Ever Dreamed of …

As someone who is goal-oriented you already know the importance of having positive and productive thoughts. In fact, it’s so important that it’s the barrier between mediocrity and extravagant success.

Let’s break this down …

Non-Useful Thoughts Useful Thoughts …
Are random and chaotic Are orderly and are not subject to the chaos that is going on around you
Come in response to the outside world—what you see, hear, smell, taste and touch Tap into the spiritual power that is flowing into your consciousness and use it to originate thoughts and create ideas
Induce boredom, complacency and fear Attract other thoughts and ideas that vibrate in harmony with your heart’s desires
See things as they are and not as they can be Allow you to actively and deliberately create the life you truly want, instead of settling for the life the world presents to you
Come from your rational mind, and are therefore based on limited and flawed information Are connected to the perfect, unlimited side of yourself and can literally change the world

Start living from the inside out, and experience the magic and power of your marvelous mind.

So, what’s the key to creating thoughts that will produce the success you want?

Here’s how this step by step, three-in-one coaching program works:

  • Each week, you’ll get an audio coaching lesson on one of the six faculties from Bob and Mary. Each session provides in-depth insight into what each faculty is, how you can use it to improve the quality of your life and ways to develop it.
  • Sandy will send you a video lesson and exercise every single day. The daily lessons provide additional insights and specific techniques to take you further toward understanding, developing and actively using each faculty.
  • By the end of each week, you will not only have developed one of your faculties, you’ll also know when and how to use it in a more effective and rewarding way.
  • This coaching program isn’t about theory or wishing and hoping. It is about actively and deliberately changing your thoughts so you can create the life you want right now.

In just six weeks, you’ll discover how to…

  • Move beyond mere mental activity to real thinking.
  • Originate thoughts that vibrate in harmony with who you want to be, do and have.
  • Consciously use your imagination to purposely bring your goals to life and create a life that looks exactly the way you want it to look.

  • Transform any challenge by changing your perception of the situation.
  • Transform your hopes and wishes for what you MIGHT into expectations of what you WILL have.

Resilience, Persistence, Perseverance, Focus, Determination…all characteristics of mental strength. We can Do, Be and Have so much more if we bannish those signs of weakness that are indeed chaotic an d have no direction. They come from the pit of the devil. Sole aim to steal, kill and destroy. We have to reach for the inner joy, strength, goodness or Godness as I like to call it and thrive. Coz that what we are here for.

Sounds like an amazing program Natalia. Thanks for sharing with us!
